Product Description of Molecular Sieve Desiccant

Molecular sieves are used in sealed IG units to prevent fogging. In a sealed double pane window, condensation of water and solvent vapors can fog up the interior glass surfaces. Window fogging occurs when steam trapped between the two panes of an insulating glass unit condenses on the surface of the glass. This is due to the temperature of the glass surface being below the dew point of the air between the two panes.

 

To prevent fogging, it is necessary to control the moisture concentration within the dual pane window. Using this desiccant for insulating glass, molecular sieves absorb moisture better than all commercially available adsorbents, and sometimes they can also remove solvent vapors. When the molecular sieve absorbs moisture or solvent vapor, the moisture vapor concentration in the air space decreases, and the moisture dew point of the empty droplets decreases to a lower value, and condensation cannot occur until the glass temperature is lower than this value.
